Join us on March 15, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Eversource, 107 Selden Street, Berlin, CT, for the next meeting in the highly successful Inclusion Works Here Series: Creating an Inclusive Workplace from Recruiting to Retention. We will be having a panel discussion about The Power of Disability ERG/BRG’s in Creating an Inclusive Workplace.
Our panel is composed of representatives from successful Disability Employee/Business Resource Groups who will speak about their ERG, its history, their events and activities (such as mentoring). One of our panelists is just starting to build their Disability ERG. Most importantly they will share their stories, experiences and insights into best practices for creating a sustainable Disability ERG which has the ability to make a positive impact in Diversity and Inclusion. Employees with disabilities, through Disability ERG’s, can reinforce inclusive workplace policy and be a positive and powerful influence for inclusion in their workplace.
The presentations will be followed by Q & A and a discussion period. A light breakfast will be served.

Why ERG’s? More and more businesses are encouraging the creation of employee resource groups which represent specific diversities within that workplace. In addition to Disability ERG’s there are ERG’s which represent Latino, African American, LGBTQ employees and more. These groups fill a variety of functions including that of advocating for that diversity within that workplace, a “place” for discussing concerns specific to that group in addition to providing a welcoming atmosphere which promotes inclusion in the workplace. The members of a Disability ERG are most often employees with disabilities, non-disabled employees who want to meet and welcome their colleagues with disabilities and even parents of children with disabilities.
